The pictures galleries are sized to be displayed on a 1024x768 screen resolution or above. If your resolution is less than this you will have to use your scroll bars or mouse wheel to see all the page. Many computers are set for a low resolution as a default setting, so it is worth checking.
Each gallery will open in a new window - just close that window when you want to move on to the next letter. Some vessel have no name - only a number or I may have no record of the name. Fishing Vessels with only a registration number listed under ‘Fishing Vessels’. Naval Vessels with only a registration number listed under ‘Naval Vessels’. Submarines with only a registration number listed under ‘Submarines’. Use the LIST OF PICTURES list or the SEARCH BOX to search for pennant numbers. From the site stats it is clear that some people are searching again and again using a search engine - this is silly - why not set up a shortcut on your desktop or taskbar.
BROWSE the Galleries with thumbnails
Each page of thumbnail images has 5 columns and 50 rows, making 250 images per thumbnail page. Some letters e.g. the letter X have only one thumbnail page whereas some letters have over 20. Use the small arrows at the top of the page to move to the next page of thumbnails or directly go to a particular thumbnail page by clicking on a number in the row of numbers along the top of the thumbnails. Each letter of thumbnails will open in a new window. Just close that window to return to the main navigation menu to move on to the next letter. Click on a thumbnail to see an enlarged image. If you are using IE7 or IE8 you can open an image up in a new tab by using the mouse wheel click. When you reach the bottom of a thumbnail page, you can use the ‘home’ key to quickly return to the top of the page instead of scrolling up. You can search the current thumbnail page by using key ‘F3’
LIST OF PICTURES - list of all the pictures on this site (not links)
A good way to see if the picture you are looking for is on the site is to select the LIST OF PICTURES on the main navigation menu. This is just a text list but you can use the powerful Adobe Reader search facility to search all the list. This is a large list and will take several moments to load. You can also easily search for parts of a picture name, for example if you want to find all pictures with ‘Maru’ in the name, just enter ‘Maru’ into the search box and you will get a list of all the pictures containing ‘Maru’. Because all the picture names have a hyphen and number at the end this makes it easy for searching for particular letters at the end of the name only, for example to search for all the pictures ending in ‘ia’, just enter ‘ia-’ into the search box and you will get a list of all the pictures ending in ‘ia’.
Use the ‘SEARCH’ headings on the main menu to get a list of clickable links by letter. Just scroll down the list and click on the picture you want to go directly to an enlarged image of that picture. Use your browser back button to return to the list after viewing the picture. Of course if you then start browsing with the arrows you will have to do a lot of clicking on your browser back button to return to the list! In this case, just close the window and start again from the main navigation menu.
